Coliform bacteria was detected in 48% of soft drinks and 20% had heterotrophic plate, more than 11% of soft drinks containing Escherichia coli (E. coli), and also more than 17% contained Chryseobacterium meningosepticum. Other opportunistic pathogenic microorganisms isolated from soda drinks included Klebsiella species, Staphylococcus, Stenotrophomonas, Candida, and Serratia.
